Dear Friends,
With great sadness, we share that Tenzin Bob Thurman passed away peacefully on the morning of June 16, 2026, at his home in Woodstock, New York.
For 65 years Bob dedicated his life to studying, practicing, and sharing the wisdom of the Buddha. Nothing brought him greater joy than teaching, learning, and connecting with people from all walks of life.
Bob often reminded us that our deepest nature is wisdom and compassion, and that the purpose of life is to awaken that nature for the benefit of all beings.
The family has been deeply touched by the enormous outpouring of love, prayers, and kind wishes from around the world. They are grateful that Bob’s efforts on behalf of the Dharma reached and inspired so many people.
Information about memorial gatherings and ways to celebrate Bob’s life will be shared in the coming days.
