For those of you who are able and willing to help financially Tibet House US has compiled a list of links to effective and reliable relief efforts that stand in need of funds to address the situation on the ground there in Nepal:
- Save The Children’s Nepal Earthquake Children’s Relief Fund will help the organization “protect vulnerable children and provide desperately needed relief to families. Ten percent of your contribution will be used to help us prepare for the next emergency.”
- AmeriCares has announced that its emergency response team “is en route to Nepal and we are prepared to help any way that we can,” noting that “we leverage every dollar donated into twenty dollars of aid.”
- World Food Program – The U.N. World Food Program says logistics and emergency response teams have arrived in Kathmandu.
- American Red Cross is committing $1,000,000 and mobilizing disaster specialists to help provide emergency humanitarian assistance following the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal. Efforts are part of a larger global Red Cross relief response, led by the Nepal Red Cross.
- Mercy Corps warns that prices for essential supplies in Nepal are rising quickly. The group says it is working with the Nepal Red Cross Society to help distribute essential household supplies, shelter kits and tarpaulins. Mercy Corps has 90 staffers on the ground in Nepal, some of whom have lost their homes in the quake.
- Direct Relief writes of its efforts that the organization “will be coordinating with the following local and emergency response partners in the hours and days ahead,” and “has delivered over $1,000,000 worth of medicines and supplies to its charitable healthcare provider partners in Nepal.”
- CAREÂ – The humanitarian organization that fights global poverty is on the ground in Nepal.
- Doctors Without Borders, also known as Medecins Sans Frontieres, says it is sending medical staff and supplies to Nepal, including emergency surgical teams.
- The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) is providing relief and medical supplies and sending a disaster relief team.
- Samaritan’s Purse is responding to a catastrophic earthquake that struck Nepal. We will be providing relief items such as shelter materials, clean water supplies, and hygiene and cooking kits. Our teams work in the Name of Jesus, ministering with care and compassion to those who are suffering..
- Oxfam Australia and Unicef have information on how you can help by donating to their organizations, and GlobalGiving.org has started a fundraising campaign, with all donations pledged to disaster relief.
- Karuna Shechen, founded by Buddhist monk Matthieu Ricard in 2000, provides health care, education, and social services for the under-served people of India, Nepal, and Tibet. Click here to donate to Karanua Shechen’s earthquake-relief efforts.
- Seva has created a Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund, noting that “that 100% of every gift will go to support the victims of this devastating earthquake.”
- World Vision – The Christian aid organization is on the ground assessing the disaster in Nepal.
- Tibet Fund – The Tibet Fund has established an Emergency Earthquake Relief Fund and is working with credible and reliable partners in Nepal, such as the Snow Lion Foundation and The Himalayan Society for Youth and Women Empowerment (HSYWE) to ensure that resources reach those most affected by the quake.
- Google has now launched a 2015 Nepal Earthquake Person Finder –  a portal for those with information about people who may have been affected by the quake, and those looking for such people.
- Skype – In light of the devastating events that have taken place in Nepal – and the subsequent impact to the local communications infrastructure – Skype has made all Skype calls to landlines and mobiles in and out of Nepal free of charge.
